‘A Dark Paradise’ is a collaborative project from multi-disciplinary artist Dan Beesley and roots musician Benjamin William Pike. The concepts of contrast and tradition are explored with a delivery of improvised music and soundscapes from within St. Stephens Church.
The contrast of contemporary, structure free music within this historic place of ritual challenge traditional music practices and offer an alternative approach for interacting with sacred spaces. The artists will be enclosed within the Bell Tower of the church, rejecting conventional performance practices and instead allowing the physical surroundings to inform the presentation.
The audience will hear music from both outside and inside the church, encouraging exploration and interaction with the building and grounds.
